Daily Checks
Before Each TripThese checks must be performed each day by the driver before taking to the road.
Engine Oil Level
Check the level when cold and top up if necessary. Check the colour (abnormal darkening indicates oil change needed).
Coolant Level
Check in the expansion tank when cold. Never open when hot.
Tyre Condition
Visual check of pressure, wear, and obvious damage (cuts, bulges). Also check the spare tyre.
Lighting
Position lights, dipped beam, main beam, indicators, brake lights, reversing lights.
Windscreen and Mirrors
Cleanliness, absence of cracks, correct mirror adjustment.
Windscreen Washer Fluid
Top up if necessary and check that wipers operate correctly.
Leaks Under Vehicle
Check for any signs of oil, coolant or fuel leaks.
Vehicle Documents
Vehicle registration, insurance, roadworthiness test, service logbook.
Weekly Checks
WeeklyMore thorough inspections to be performed once per week.
Tyre Pressure
Check when cold using a pressure gauge. Refer to manufacturer's specifications (door pillar sticker).
Brake Fluid Level
Must be between minimum and maximum. A significant drop may indicate a leak or brake pad wear.
Power Steering Fluid Level
Where applicable (some vehicles have electric power steering).
Battery Condition
Clean terminals, no corrosion, secure fixings.
Belts
Visual inspection, tension, no cracks or fraying.
Air Filter
Visual inspection. Clean or replace if heavily clogged.
General Cleanliness
Interior and exterior of the vehicle. A clean vehicle maintains a professional appearance.
Monthly Checks
MonthlyMonthly inspections to prevent problems before they become critical.
Brake Pad Thickness
Minimum 3mm. Plan replacement if approaching wear indicator.
Tyre Tread Depth
Legal minimum: 1.6mm. Recommended: replace at 3mm. Use wear indicator or depth gauge.
Suspension
Bounce test at all four corners. Visual inspection of dampers (leaks).
Steering
Steering wheel play, unusual noises, stiffness.
Air Conditioning
Operation, unusual odours, cooling effectiveness.
Safety Equipment
Warning triangle, high-visibility vest, fire extinguisher (check expiry), first aid kit.
Bodywork
Note any damage (scratches, dents), check for absence of rust.
Maintenance Intervals
Standard maintenance intervals (adapt according to manufacturer's recommendations).
